Annual conference focuses on how to navigate the “new economic battleground” posed by big data, company touts annual growth and launches new community site

SAN FRANCISCO (September 27, 2012) – JASPERWORLD 2012 – Jaspersoft, the world’s most widely used business intelligence (BI) platform, today announced the successful conclusion of JasperWorld 2012, the open source business intelligence (BI) conference. The conference included keynotes from Jaspersoft CEO Brian Gentile, 10gen President Max Schireson, enStratus Vice President Bernard Golden and noted BI industry analyst Claudia Imhoff. A record-breaking number of attendees – including customers, partners, industry analysts and bloggers/reporters – attended the three-day event, which was held in downtown San Francisco.

Highlights from the conference included demonstrations of innovative Jaspersoft deployments from customers including Red Hat, Groupon, SAVO Group and SofTrek, as well as a lively set of panel discussions on a diverse array of topics, ranging from BI building in the cloud to real world Big Data applications. Claudia Imhoff provided insight into successful self-service BI and also led a Twitter chat on BI best practices and use cases, which drew over 100 responses from a global pool of participants. Attendees enjoyed the Jaspersoft product roadmap session, which included a sneak peak of Jaspersoft 5 (due out later this year), and also celebrated the 10th anniversary of JasperReports and iReport.

Jaspersoft also unveiled a new website for its 300,000-strong user community (http://community.jaspersoft.com). The new site includes improved ease of access to information for more collaborative opportunities, including modern Q&A forums with community voting and best-answer identification and a new exchange to deliver community-developed extensions and add-ons.

Participating sponsors for JasperWorld 2012 included Column Technologies and Actian (Platinum Level); Spatialytics, Treasure Data, 10gen and SugarCRM (Gold Level); DEFTeam, SoftServe, Elastic Intelligence, Red Hat and Syntel (Silver Level); and Datastax, Infobright, Full360, Servoy and Talend (Bronze Level).

Jaspersoft Unveils Partnership with Dupaco Jaspersoft capped off the conference by announcing its formal partnership with Dupaco, a leading Dutch reseller that also specializes in data management.

Attendee Feedback:

“JasperWorld has become an annual tradition for me,” said Mark Walls, Illuminate Education COO. “It was great to get to see how others are using the software and collaborating on the open source front, as well as learn a bit more about the direction of the company going forward. My team saw a sneak peak of Jaspersoft 5.0 and we’re extremely excited to start using that in production.”

“Open source business intelligence has an important role to play as BI moves into the era of cloud computing,” said Edd Dumbill, O’Reilly Principal Analyst and Conference Chair, and a JasperWorld panel moderator. “JasperWorld brought together a great cross-section of BI professionals who care about making data work inside their organizations.”

“As Big Data evolves from industry buzzword to business reality, it’s imperative that organizations arm themselves with the proper tools to make better business decisions,” said Claudia Imhoff, Intelligent Solutions CEO. “Jaspersoft’s BI suite is certainly among those tools, and this conference was a great opportunity to share best practices on how to modernize your organization’s approach to business intelligence in the era of big data.”

“This year’s conference exceeded even our own high expectations,” said Brian Gentile, Jaspersoft CEO. “It proved to be an exceptional forum for discussing common BI challenges our customers and community face today and sharing best practices on how to overcome them. We were thrilled with the number and energy of the attendees, which included many of the leading minds in business intelligence, and we’re already excited for the next JasperWorld.”
