Jaspersoft delivers Section 508 products and partners with Autonomic Resources, a Certified Section 8a SDB firm, to enable streamlined procurement processes

GOSCON (Government Open Source Conference), Portland, OR (October 21, 2008) –

JasperSoft Corporation, the market leader in open source business intelligence (BI), today announced that the complete Jaspersoft Business Intelligence Suite is available on the GSA Schedule number GS-35F-0587R. For over 12 years, GSA Advantage has been a reliable and proven one-stop online resource for thousands of Federal employees worldwide. GSA Advantage offers the most comprehensive selection of approved products and services available from GSA contracts. This schedule will allow any government agency to easily procure Jaspersoft’s Professional Edition products and services. The company today also announced Jaspersoft meets the technical provisions of Section 508, the government standard that requires Federal agencies’ electronic and information technology be accessible to people with disabilities.

With dozens of Federal, state, local and international government agencies already using the Jaspersoft Business Intelligence Suite, the GSA inclusion will accelerate deployments in the government sector where the Federal Open Source Alliance reports 55 percent of agencies are already using open source software and 71 percent believe they can benefit from it.

Existing Jaspersoft customers in government represent many areas within the sector and include the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Labor, as well as the USDA, the Federal Court System, the Peace Corps, and many others.

“Jaspersoft is uniquely suited to meet government needs at the local, state, federal and international levels. Its modern architecture and simple Web 2.0 infrastructure and interface offer both enterprise-class functionality as well as support for open standards that are essential to government agencies,” said Brian Gentile, CEO of Jaspersoft. “Now with GSA certification and meeting Section 508 technical provisions, we’re able to further support increasing demand from agencies that are depending more than ever on business intelligence applications to enable accurate decisions on finance, policy compliance, and more.”

Jaspersoft’s partnership with Autonomic Resources is particularly designed to streamline the Federal procurement process and put critical tools into the hands of the agencies that need them. “The combination of GSA schedule inclusion coupled with our firm’s Section 8a status enables agencies to bypass lengthy procurement processes and quickly get support and services for their mission-critical Jaspersoft deployments”, said John Keese, President of Autonomic Resources.

In conjunction with these announcements Jaspersoft will be presenting with Jet Propulsion Laboratories at GOSCON, the premiere government open source conference, on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 3 p.m. PT. The session, titled “Cracking the Code on Government Procurement Requirements; Open Source BI Fuels Jet Propulsion,” will discuss the adoption of open source business intelligence in the government sector, and showcase how JPL is driving open source adoption for NASA.

“With a long technology history and attention to executive-level government and business users, Jaspersoft represents how a mature open source software company functions today,” said Deb Bryant, Public Sector Community Manager at Open Source Labs and GOSCON organizer. “We’re seeing more and more adoptions by government at the application level, and Jaspersoft is in a good position to deliver. We congratulate them on their GSA certification and meeting Section 508 technical provisions.”

The Federal Open Source Alliance also reports that 26 percent of government agencies that have not yet implemented open source say that lack of full support is the issue. Jaspersoft GSA certification will make it easier for government customers to access the BI industry’s best-ranked support, according to a survey conducted by research firm Gartner earlier this year. This ranking puts Jaspersoft’s support quality above both alternative open source and proprietary BI solutions alike.

“Working with Jaspersoft’s BI suite has had a very positive impact on the work we do at JPL. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with GOSCON attendees with both buying and deploying open source software,” said Terry Himes, lead engineer, Jet Propulsion Laboratories.
